Note Lorenzo's spelling of Siragusa. Before 1820, the name was usually spelled Siracusa, with a C. Around 1820 the spelling Siragusa began to appear. My great-grandfather spelled his name Mario Siragusa, as did his first son Giuseppe. But after coming to America in 1914, all the kids born here (starting with my grandmother born in 1914) spelled their name Siracusa. Thus, the name went from Siracusa, to Siragusa, back to Siracusa.

Antonino's death date is given in the notes of her daughter Gaetana's marriage certificate (1856).
On her marriage certificate, her name was listed as "Nunzia Maria." However on her baptismal certificate she is "Maria Gesualda."
After his wife's death, Antonino married a widow named Giuseppa Pattuita in 1872. He was 61; she was 48.
