Born in 1971, composer/organist/pianist LEONARDO CIAMPA is acknowledged as a musician of supreme gifts and versatility.

As an organ recitalist, Ciampa has made nine European tours encompassing Italy, Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. He is particularly admired in Italy, where he has played in numerous international festivals (Festival Perosiano, Festival Biellese, Organi Storici della Valsesia, etc.). Currently, Ciampa directs the Chapel organ recital series at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is Music Director of Christ Lutheran Church in Natick, MA. Prior to this appointment, Ciampa was for 23 years Director of Music in various churches in Massachusetts: St. Mary & St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Charlestown (2008-2009); St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Brookline (2001-2007); and the First Baptist Church in Jamaica Plain (1989-2001). At the latter he played the renowned 1859 E. & G. G. Hook organ (destroyed by fire in 2005), on which Ciampa recorded two CDs for AFKA records, No Room at the Inn and No Room at the Inn, Volume II

Ciampa's compositions (which are considered “Neoromantic”) include The Annunciation Op. 203 (cantata for chorus, soloists, and strings); Suite Siciliana Op. 145 (for two violins, piano and orchestra), commissioned by the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra of Boston to open their 25^th anniversary season; five Organ Symphonies, a concerto for piano and organ; a piano quintet; and numerous sacred works. His works are published exclusively by CIC (cicmusica.com).

As a piano recitalist, Ciampa is known for his warm sound and colorful style reminiscent of the Golden Age of Pianists. He is especially noted for his interpretations of Chopin (whose 200^th birthday Ciampa commemorated with several piano recitals in 2010). Ciampa collaborates regularly with the Lavazza Chamber Ensemble (lavazzachamberensemble.org).

An avid writer, Ciampa's books include The Twilight of Belcanto and Don Lorenzo Perosi. He also writes the blog, “Faultbook” (faultbook.blogspot.com).

Jahrgang 1971, Komponist/Organist/Pianist LEONARDO CIAMPA ist ein Musiker der hšchsten Gaben und Vielseitigkeit.

Als Konzertorganist, hat Ciampa sieben Orgelkonzerttourneen durch Europa (Italien, Österreich, Deutschland, der Schweiz) absolviert und ist besonders in Italien bekannt, wo er jährlich auf wichtigen internationalen Festivals (Festival Perosiano, Festival Biellese, Organi Storici della Valsesia, u. a.) spielt. Derzeit leitet Ciampa die Kapellenorgelkonzertreihe am Massachusetts Institute of Technology und Kirchenmusikdirektor der Christ Lutheran Church in Natick. Vor dieser Ernennung war Ciampa für 23 Jahre Musikdirektor in verschiedenen Kirchen in Massachusetts: St. Mary – St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Charlestown (2008-2009); St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Brookline (2001-2007); und der First Baptist Church in Jamaica Plain, Boston (1989-2001). In Letzterer hat er an der berühmter Orgel von E. & G. G. Hook aus dem Jahre 1859 (sie wurde 2005 durch eine Brandkatastrophe zerstört) gespielt und zwei CDs fü AFKA Records, nämlich No Room at the Inn und No Room at the Inn, Volume II, aufgenommen.

Unter Ciampas Kompositionen (die “Neoromantisch” betrachtet werden) finden sich die Kantate The Annunciation(Op. 203) für Chor, Solisten und Streichinstrumente, die Suite Siciliana(Op. 145) für zwei Violinen, Klavier und Orchester (vom Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra of Boston anlässlich seines 25jährigen Bestandsjubiläums im Jahre 2002 uraufgeführt), fünf Orgelsymphonien, ein Konzert fü Klavier und Orgel, ein Klavierquintett und viele Kirchenkompositionen. Seine Kompositionen werden ausschließlich von CIC (cicmusica.com) herausgegeben.

Was sein Klavierspiel betrifft, so erinnern Ciampas farbiger Klang und sein warmer Stil an das „goldene Zeitalter der Pianisten.“ Bekannt sind vor allem seine Interpretationen von Chopin (dessen 200. Geburtstag Ciampa mit sechs Klavierkonzerte in 2010 erinnert). Ciampa arbeitet regelmäßig mit dem Lavazza Chamber Ensemble zusammen (lavazzachamberensemble.org).

Ein begeisterter Schreiber, hat er The Twilight of Belcanto, Don Lorenzo Perosi,und andere Bücher geschreiben. Er schreibt auch das Blog, „Faultbook“ (faultbook.blogspot.com).

Nato nel 1971, compositore/organista/pianista LEONARDO CIAMPA è un musicista di doti supremi e versatilità straordinaria.

Come concertista d'organo, Ciampa ha fatto nove tournée in Europa, comprendendo Italia, Austria, Germania, e Svizzera. È particolarmente ammirato in Italia, ove ha suonato in numerosi festival internationali (Festival Perosiano, Festival Biellese, Organi Storici della Valsesia, ecc.). Attualmente, Ciampa dirige la Chapel Organ Recital Series del Massachusetts Institute of Technology e Direttore della Musica della Christ Lutheran Church in Natick. Prima di questa nomina, Ciampa era per 23 anni Direttore della Musica presso varie chiese nel Massachusetts: St. Mary – St. Catherine of Siena Parish a Charlestown (2008-2009); St. Paul's Episcopal Church a Brookline (2001-2007); e la First Baptist Church a Jamaica Plain (Boston) (1989-2001). Alla terza suonava il rinomato organo di E. & G. G. Hook del 1859 (distrutto da un incendio nel 2005), su cui Ciampa ha inciso due CD presso AFKA Records, No Room at the Inn e No Room at the Inn, Volume II

Le composizioni di Ciampa, di stile neoromantico, includono The Annunciation, Op. 203 (cantata per coro, solisti, ed archi); Suite Siciliana, Op. 145 (per due violini, pianoforte ed orchestra, commissionata dalla Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra di Boston per aprire la stagione del suo 25º anniversario ); cinque Sinfonie d'Organo; un concerto per pianoforte ed organo; un quintetto d'archi; e numerosi pezzi sacri. Come concertista di pianoforte, Ciampa è noto per il suono colorito e lo stile caloroso che richiamano l'età d'oro dei Pianisti.
